As a native English speaker it is obviously much easier for me recognise the different tenses, but I can understand that for a student whose native language is not English can make very "normal mistakes". In this unit I have learnt that the past tense is used to discuss situations or actions which happened in the past, but can also be used to describe a situation or action that happened in the past but was for a longer period of time and has finished or been completed. Also another use for the past tense is to describe the past which happened only once but has also been completed or finished, or to discuss an event that happens regularly, but is always completed, and the past tense can be used to discuss a certain time period. So I have found this to be a wonderful unit in the fact that the past tenses can be used in so many different situations.
