There are four basic skills in language and these are reading and listening or also known as receptive skills and productive skills which are speaking and writing. In this unit, we focus on the receptive skills. We use receptive skills for some reasons and basically, it is for a purpose, which helps us achieve some particular aim or goal, it is also use for entertainment, for example listening and reading information that we find it enjoyable. There are some ways that a reader and a listener can understand contexts easily like, predictive skills, scanning, skimming, detailed information and deduction from context. Before teaching a lesson to the class the teacher should know the topic that can motivate and interests the students, pre-teach vocabularies and be careful in selecting texts.
