Troubleshooting
In this particular unit I became aware of some of the problems that teachers can encounter in the classroom and the solutions to resolve these issues. Additionally, it is vital for teachers to build rapport with their students and setting the tone for the rest of the course, especially the first lesson. These lessons can fall into two groups, new group, in this group students do not know each other and some work will be needed to establish rapport between the class members. Existing groups, are students who are already likely to know and are comfortable with EFL teaching. Furthermore, when a teacher is faced with a new lesson, the teacher should not resort to a course book, but instead try to use activities that will build positive rapport between the students and the teacher. Finding out information about the students is essential, this will enable the teacher to plan future lessons which will cater to the students needs and interests. Some activities that could be used include, questionnaires, pass the ball game etc. Following on, in my future class I would definitely use warmers, warmers are activities that are used before you start a lesson. They are usually short, fun and communicative activities designed to get students motivated and start using English. Some activities may include, hangman, pictionary, tongue twisters and memory games.
