Present Tenses
The tense system is an area of the English language that causes most difficulty amongst teachers and students. However, studying the tense system again is quite beneficial for myself to get to be familiarised. I have understood that linguists believe that there are only two tenses, the present and past. I will also agree with this argument because concentrating on two tenses is much more acceptable and much easier to remember when teaching your students. In comparison to studying twelve tenses, which is much more complicated to remember. However, as a future EFL teacher I need to be familiarised with all tenses.
Following on, there are three different times in English: the past, the present and future. Each of these times has four aspects: simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. The form, usages, typical students errors and activate stage teaching ideas will further enable myself to understand the tense system further.
