This unit helped me to understand how to teach vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions and which type of ESA lesson to choose for each purpose. As for vocabulary, teachers should select it in correspondence with students’ level and use suitable techniques to elicit meaning, usage, word grammar, interaction, spelling and pronunciation. To teach vocabulary lessons Straight arrow ESA lessons can be used. When teaching grammatical structures teachers should elicit how they are used, their grammatical forms and how they are said and written. To cover that teachers can choose an ESA patchwork lesson. Teaching language functions includes areas such as inviting, refusing, agreeing disagreeing, suggesting, etc. as well as the appropriacy of the language, for example for formal, informal, tentative or technical situations. A boomerang ESA lesson will be very effective as it helps understand what students already know on the certain subject and what needs to be taught and practiced.
