This unit discussed about speaking and writing and how to teach these two productive skills. I believe productive skills (speaking and writing) bear equal importance as with receptive skills (reading and listening), hence, we should not lean on one and neglect the other. Speaking and writing are different in many ways but are used for the same purpose which is to communicate. I learned that writing requires a greater degree of accuracy while speaking requires a greater degree of fluency. Moreover, accuracy activities are usually part of the study phase which are concentrated on producing the correct language, on the other hand, fluency activities are concentrated on allowing the students to experiment and be creative with the language and are usually part of the activate stage. I also learned more about games (competitive or cooperative) and how they can be used in the classroom to motivate students, to create a stimulating environment and encourage student interaction.
