This unit covers the two receptive skills: reading and listening. In order to get the students to actively read and listen, the teacher needs to choose materials that the students are interested in and for their level of understanding. As mentioned in previous units regarding certain activities, the teacher should not provide too much information, but instead let the students try to reach an understanding on their own. This would be the case in reading materials provided to the students. The teacher should provide the definitions to words that would be difficult for the students and difficult to understand the general meaning of the text, though some difficult words could be left for the students to predict the meaning, if it doesn't affect their understanding of the overall text.
