I never really thought about how little writing is taught in language classes. Of course, it doesn't seem that fun to have students writing on their own. However, making a lesson now and then about writing and finding engaging games, or even having students to come up and write on the board would be a good way of engaging them. Many students, I'm sure will be interested in writing emails, so that could be a pair activity for a short time period, based on the target vocab of the lesson.
