In this unit I learned about the different areas of speech: stress, articulation and pronunciation. I learned about the different patterns of intonation and when certain syllables should be stressed, such as most two syllable verbs are stressed on the last syllable and most two syllable nouns have stress on the first syllable. I learned about the phonetic alphabet, which is very tricky! On top of this, I took in examples on how to teach these with tongue twisters, mouth diagrams, and modelling the sound. I found this unit to be very tricky, but also very insightful.
