Unit 8 familiarized us with 7 of the most common tenses used to describe future actions (Future Simple, Future Continuous, Future Perfect, Future Perfect Continuous, Going to Future, Present Simple, and Present Continuous). As the unit warned, I found this unit to be fairly difficult to digest given the specific uses that each tense will be used for in a situation, and putting myself in a students shoes, I'm sure If I were learning English, I'd be confused learning present tenses for Future usage. Accordingly, I think when I start to develop lesson plans, it would be prudent for me to approach teaching tenses the same way that this course has; present, past, then future, so as to let the material build off of prior lessons.
I particularly enjoyed the teaching example of using a song to teach the tenses ('When I'm 64' by the Beatles) and think that coming up with other examples (e.g. Tom Petty 'Learning To Fly') would be a great way to acquaint students with other tenses, and familiarize them with vocabulary they might not otherwise come across.
