Unit 19 covered various approaches and pointers to abide by when teaching English to special groups. The groups--including beginners, individuals, children, business professionals, and multilingual/monolingual classrooms--all present unique challenges to an ESL teacher, and have to be catered to accordingly. I was happy that Unit 19 mentioned that many teachers are intimidated by teaching beginners and children, or feel that they don't have enough business practice to feel comfortable teaching professionals, as these same fears have certainly crept into the back of my mind.
I really took a lot away from the 'Needs Analysis' part of Unit 19, and feel that performing this sort of assessment in an adult classroom can go a long ways towards fostering a sense of collaborative community and trust between teacher/students.
