Modals are used to expressed different ideas such as obligation, possibility, permission, ability and advice. There are 7 true model aux verbs and there are " will, should, might, can, may, must, could, should and would. There are two voices used in English: passive and active. In the active, the focus is on the subject, but in the passive the agent is much less important or doesn't appear. There are also 3 categories of clauses: Independent clause, dependent clause and relative clause. An independent clause contains the main subject and a verb and is a complete sentence. A dependent clause is not a complete sentence and a relative clause is a dependent clause that modifies a noun. The three types of phrasal verbs are intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable.
