The unit demonstrates how conditional tenses are used in the English language. There are five conditional tenses, including the zero conditional tense, the first conditional tense, the second conditional tense, the third conditional tense, and the mixed conditional tense. Each one is used in a particular situation, and the tense of the verbs used can vary from present tense, to future tense, to various past tense forms. Modal verbs are often employed in each of the forms of the conditional tense, however. The unit also explains how reported speech changes the tense of the verb used into corresponding past tense verb.
