This unit focuses on the use of course books and lesson materials in the classroom. We learn the difference between authentic and non authentic materials, what are their advantages and how they can help the learners be more comfortable with the language. There is also a part of this unit that focuses on course books, what they consist of and how they should be used in order to have a positive impact on the students' learning process.
There are also sample activities in this unit which are all great examples of non-authentic materials. It shows the diversity and wide range of options and possibilities in creating learning material for students.
I feel like this unit taught me how to make the best use of a course book and lesson material in general. It is clear that the teacher cannot rely on a course book alone to teach a class, however, he/she can use the important material in it and add or replace certain points in order to adapt the lesson and syllabus to his/her students.
