This was probably the most frustrating unit to get through, especially the phonemic alphabet part. I know I'll likely never teach that to language students because never have I even learned it. It is interesting in itself especially for linguistic students, but really hurt my head at first trying to figure out how it worked. I have an idea now at least, especially after doing the test questions on it. I will also almost never go into that much detail in describing these sounds to students because I think it could confuse them, but for myself I see the appeal for a teacher to have a better understanding.
I do think pronunciation in itself is so important for language learners to know and I want to be the type that devotes whole lessons to pronunciation because of it's importance in communicating with other English speakers. I appreciate all the charts and diagrams this unit had to offer and I will be referencing them a lot in this career.
