In this unit, I have learned about the seven most common tenses used in the English language to talk about the future, along with their respective usage. These seven tenses are the following:
- Future simple (subject + will + verb): Used for predictions without any evidence/assumptions/speculations, spontaneous actions, future facts, promises/threats.
- Future Continuous (subject + will be + verb-ing): Used for actions in progress at some point in the future, polite enquiries, predictions about what's happening in the present and future events that fixed or decided.
- Future Perfect (subject + will have + past participle): Used to say that something will have been completed or achieved by a particular time in the future.
- Future Perfect Continuous (I will have been + verb-ing): Used to express how long something will have continued by a certain time.
- Going to future (subject + "to be" in present + going + to + verb): Used for predictions with evidence, plans and something that has already been decided before the time of speaking.
- Present Simple: Commonly used for schedule/timetable.
- Present Continous: Used to talk about definite arrangements and for decisions/plans without a timeframe.
