This unit focuses on two lessons: one that is ineffective and one that represents the way a class should be taught. In the first video, the teacher presents jumbled and unclear information to the students, making it impossible for them to understand what they should be doing. No instructions are given and the teacher seems dismissive towards the students every time they make a mistake. In the second video, however, the teacher introduces himself, learns the students' names in order to involve each individual in the class and the information given to the students is much clearer than that of the first video, making the students willing to be more participative.
I have learned that the effectiveness of a class depends mainly on the teacher and his attitude, and that the teacher must be very clear when giving out instructions as to not confuse the students, and must always give examples as well in order for the students to be able to understand the material properly. It is important to engage all students as well so that they feel involved in the class and have more of a willingness to learn and participate without feeling intimidated. The teacher's behavior and attitude is ultimately what will make the students feel comfortable enough to speak freely in order to learn the language.
