Unit 19 discusses the topic of teaching special groups. It begins with a look at the first of four different types of classes that come under the label of special groups, teaching beginners. It identifies the different types of beginners and what methodologies and techniques would best suit the needs of these learners of English. This is followed by a close look at teaching individual students. For this section the unit provides a good amount of suggestions of techniques and methods to use when teaching individual students. The third type of class is teaching children. This class presents its own unique problems which the unit discusses before making helpful suggestions for classroom and lesson preparations, class management and things you should and shouldn't do. Finally the unit ends of with a look into teaching business english which is becoming more and more popular, especially in non-english speaking countries. I thought the unit was detailed and quite helpful in its suggestions and methodologies.
