This unit is titled video lessons and is composed of two short videos of a teaching presentation. The videos present a comparison between an effective lesson verses a non effective lesson. The first video shows a teacher presenting a lesson ina non effective manner. From the start the teacher fails to develop a good rapport with his students and therefore quickly loses their interest and focus. The first video also highlights the problems that arise when teachers do not take into consideration the level of their students. In contrast the second video begins with the teacher introducing himself and then inviting students to introduce their names. This simple gesture was enough to establish a good rapport with the students. The second video also showed the effectiveness of pictures and mime. This time around the teacher was able to connect the ESA phases smoothly and therefore enable his students to grasp the learning objective effectively. I thought it was a very clear depiction of what to do and what not to do when teaching.
