This unit offers good input on how to maintain a good balance of control of the teacher and independence of the students in the classroom. Certain factors such as student's age, culture, self esteem, and attention spans will directly affect the amount of order or chaos in the classroom. A good teacher will be able to assess the size of the class and the space of the classroom and be able to come up with an appropriate setup for the classroom so that students will be comfortable engaging each other and the teacher and the teacher can still retain a posture of classroom manager and facilitator. A teacher should always seek to create rapport in the classroom to encourage students to participate, take risks with their English skills and be motivated to maintain classroom etiquette. The teacher should also consistently seek to make lessons varied and interesting, changing up group pairing and activity types with appropriate lengths to keep students engaged.
