The best way to improve receptive skills is from exposure from an interesting book or television, music, books and magazines are great ways to build vocabulary while incidentally promoting learner autonomy. I believe that the constant reminder and whether it be through listening or reading is a great way to teach non English speakers. I believe making a prediction of the text first will help build confidence in the student in what they already know before reading. I also think it is helpful to encourage students to read for enjoyment.
