This unit goes over the material used in the classroom. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the different types of material. It then suggests ways to capitalise on the strengths of different material and to minimize the weaknesses. The structure that a course book provides can be a great advantage but the teacher has to guard against laziness. Just because a course book provides activities does not mean that they are the best choice. A teacher needs to take the time to review the material and make wise choices about what to use as is and what to change.
