It is imperative that ESL teachers should know the different materials available to them and to choose with utmost care the most suitable materials for a particular group of learners as there are materials that may not really be appropriate to the learners to whom the materials are given. In addition, teachers of English should understand the variance in the instructional materials they intend to use as to whether they are authentic or created to cater to the needs of the students. It is common knowledge that authentic materials could not possibly be given to beginners. Therefore, teachers should be wise enough to assess the right materials for their students to use and be creative so as to reinforce learning.
