This unit covered how to teach phonetic speech, and while most of it should be useful, I think that teaching linked speech would be confusing for students and I do not consider it proper English. Even when speaking, I do not think it is appropriate to use these words for a native English speaker. I think it would be more useful to teach slang, if you wish to teach more colloquial English, but of course that is not directly related to phonetics. Anyhow, the section on phonemic writing, I also find confusing, as I am used to the format used in dictionaries. I do not remember it looking quite like the one on display here, but maybe that was the universal or American version, I am not sure. It would be helpful if there was some comparison of these systems for clarification.
