There are four present tenses. The simple present talks about routines, habits, facts and general truths. The present continuous is used when talking about actions and progress at the time of speaking or around the time of speaking. The present perfect relates the past to the present, explaining past experience, or a present result of a past action. The present perfect continuous relates the past to the present but more focus is on the continuity or the duration of the action. It is also used to express the unfinished past.
