Classroom management is useful in the teaching and learning situation generally speaking and specifically in language learning an teaching.There are various aspects that need to be taken into consideration by the language teacher to manage language classrooms. THESE include eye contact,gestures,correct use of voice,maintaining classroom discipline,gaining student rapport, to mention a few.
Whilst correct use eye contact,gestures and correct use of voice can assist the teacher in managing the class and thus have effective sessions with the students,it is important to note that these classroom management skills and techniques have their own disadvantages and should therefore be used with caution.
I have learnt that without effective classroom management there can be no effectivelearning. The teacher must be able to make the classroom a"learning home". By that I mean that the students should be relaxed,comfortable,feel safe and be at ease. The teacher must ensure that seating arrangement, activities given to learners,discipline ensuring measures,language used are all contributing to the development of the students in learning the language. Students must aspire to learn the language within the scope of effective classroom management by the teacher.
