Speaking and writing are skills that are taught in the productive skills. People communicate with each other for four purposes. The first is they have some communicative purpose, want to say something, want to listen to something, and is interested in what is being said. Accuracy activities, usually used during the study phase, concentrate on producing correct language. ON the other hand, fluency activities, usually done during the activate stage, allow the students to experiment and be more creative with language. Writing skills that are important are grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Penmanship is not as important as the three listed above. Games should be an integral part of the syllabus as they can provide useful controlled practice and free practice material.
