This unit states the qualities of a good teacher on basis of personality and Teacher-Student relationship. It discusses various roles performed by a teacher in the class. Furthermore, it describes the basic characteristics of a good learner, and what factors should be kept in mind while dealing with the Young and adult learners, so to determine the strategies to be followed for imparting proper language learning to each type. Also, the learners are categorised into various levels based on their current knowledge of the language. Lastly, it states the factors, which motivate a person to learn the English language.
This lesson provides us with the qualities of a Good Teacher, and why it is necessary to maintain a good rapport with the student. Teachers are expected to have good subject knowledge so that students feel that they are in safe hands. Teachers also devise different strategies to deal with the learners at the different language level, although this means different strategies being devised, which in turn is very time-consuming. Having said that, good teachers are passionate enough to make sure that their students get their money's worth, and efforts are made to help them reach higher levels of language.
