This unit delves into English Grammar. Every English teacher will have to teach it sooner or later. The unit covers the basic rules for the use of Modal auxiliary verbs and the passive voice, and an overview of phrasal verbs and relative clauses.
The modal verbs are: Can, could, may, might, shall should will, would, must, have to, have got to, need to, needn´t and ought to. They can be used to express a number of different ideas, such as: Obligation, possibility/probability, permission/prohibition, ability and advice. They can also be used to express different degrees of formality.
The passive voice is also reviewed, explaining its structures depending on the tense and examples.
In a briefer way, we also examine defining and non-defining relative clauses with examples and phrasal verbs and their different types, such as intransitive, transitive separable and inseparable, with usage and examples of each one.
