Faircloth, Arkansas TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit outlined modals, phrasal verbs and the passive voice. I learned that modals express ideas and can be both formal and informal depending on the auxiliary used (i.e. May I borrow your pencil or an elephant can't fly). I also learned about the passive voice which differs from the active voice because in the passive, the object of an active verb becomes the subject of the passive verb (i.e. Erica brought the pizza vs. The pizza was brought by Erica). Finally I learned about relative clauses which is one of three clause categories (independent, dependent and relative). There are both defining and non-defining relative clauses.
