In this unit, I learned about classroom management and the importance of eye contact, gesture and voice and how it can be used in the classroom. I learned more about grouping students and the pros and cons of each grouping which largely depends on the class size and type of activity. I also learned about classroom arrangement and the different ways you could set up the seating to allow for effective learning according to mainly the class size and activity that groups or individuals are doing. I too got some ideas of how I can reduce the time that my back is turned to the class, for instance, using an overhead projector. I learned about how I can give instructions effectively by applying simple language, being consistent, using visual aids and checking that the learners understand the instructions. I also learned what I can do to establish and maintain rapport with my students. Lastly, I learned about discipline and responding to problem behavior.
