This unit introduces the major theories, methods, and techniques of teaching. It sheds light on methodologies of teaching, such as grammar translation, audio-lingualism, task-based learning, community language learning, the silent way, suggestopaedia, communicative language learning, community language teaching, and the lexical approach. However, it also brings into play the best methods of teaching namely ESA ( engage, study, activate). Such a method enables students not only to learn the language, but also to practice it . This method aims at motivating students and increasing their "talk time" by depending on the 'elicitation technique". I learned from this unit that the teacher should correct the student not in all the stages of teaching. Correction should take place in the study stage.However, in the engage stage, the teacher should encourage students to talk without interrupting them. In the activate stage, the teacher will encourage students to practice the language they learned in the study stage and will give them the chance to communicate. Therefore, ESA technique enables students to be confident enough to express themselves, and to be active learners rather than passive recipients
