This unit introduces three ways of assessment for teachers to evaluate students' language level and progress, as well as different types of tests for English learners. I am familiar with these methods. When a new student comes to me to consult about my classes, I would first talk to him by asking questions to find out his language level, and then decide which class suits him best. Sometimes students come because they have problems with their English class at school and need to improve grades, I would do a diagnostic test to find out their weakness and what cause their problems. For my speaking class, I ask students to shoot a video of their speech practice after each class as homework, and I would give them feedback. This helps me know how much and how well they can use the language learned in class to form their own speech.
