In this unit, I have learnt about books and materials, and that these materials are divided into two groups. Authentic materials is about anything a native speaker read can be described as authentic eg programs, magazines, newspapers , songs , poems and so on and authentic materials are not designed for EFL students and are not graded in levels and so should be selected carefully. The reason why we use authentic materials is that they are real , interesting and motivating. Students gain confidence when they understand them and they can be geared to the interests of a particular group of students. I have also learnt about created materials which are designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from course book . This includes crosswords, word search puzzles, role play cards, flash cards, gab fill activities and picture stories. I have also gain wide knowledge about course book, the advantages and disadvantages, the best use of course books and different options for using course book use.
