As someone who works with all age groups, I was able to form a more organized mental image of my students' ability levels after learning about the breakdown of each stage of learning. I was also able to place myself in a category for my foreign language learning, which put my language learning process in perspective more. I found myself drawing parallels between the students I teach and the different levels & challenges of each age group. I found the confidence levels of adult learners especially interesting, since it's easy to forget that adults care more about saving face than taking a chance and learning. Moving forward, I plan on keeping in mind what makes a good teacher. Specifically, being sure to focus on motivating students properly, and observing more how students learn best.
