Receptive skills are the ways in which we process information from the discourse we see and hear and work on the same basic principles as listening skills .

You must consider the reasons why students need to learn receptive skills including the problems that teachers and students might experience in the teaching and learning process. The readers and listeners usually apply some of specialist skills in order to understand well the content. These includes skimming skills, scanning skills, detailed information, predictive skills and deduction from the content.
