I learned about techniques for dealing with many potentially difficult situations. Some of these include very large classes, students using a lot of their native language, students who are reluctant to participate, classes with varied skill levels and paces, and difficulty in understanding listening media. I also learned about first lessons and the importance of establishing rapport, as well as the importance of beginning a lesson with something that will grab the attention of students and get them involved.
