In this unit I have learnt about pronunciation and phonology. I have also learnt Pronunciation is probably the most neglected aspect of English language and confidence is lacking in foreign teachers to teach it methodically. It also teaches me that phonology is the study, science , analysis and classification of the physical properties of sounds . It also teaches me the differences between INTONATION, STRESS and RHYTHM. Intonation carries the message in a sentence. This includes questioning, agreement or disagreement or confirming statement. I have also learnt about the techniques for teaching intonation such as nonsense words, gesture, singing. It also gives me a sound knowledge about the phonemic alphabet, phonemic symbols ,teaching techniques for the pronunciation of individual sounds and when to teach pronunciation.
