Without having just read this lesson, I most definitely could not have expressed the difference between those tense forms. I think native English speakers also tend to use short cuts to express these same meanings. For example if someone asked "How long have you been working here?", a response might be: "It'll be 10 months in September." Since the 'have been verb-ing' form appears in the question we sometimes ignore it in the answer. this particular lesson will be difficult to teach in Japan since their language doesn't do a lot with future tenses.
