In this unit, we learned that not all English learners are the same, and they can be classified as five special groups: Beginners, Individuals, Yong Learners, Business and Monolingual. Beginner level students are usually with little or no knowledge of English, and teaching beginners requires special skills and psychology; For individuals, before you begin teaching One to One, you will need to do a need analysis to be effective, then we learned its advantages verses disadvantages for teaching One to One lesson; For young group, they don't have a driving motivation to learn languages as adults do, so the ways children and adults are learning differently. we also learned how to discipline and manage the class; For teaching Business group, we learned that English is more than just teaching grammar and vocabulary, it's also about learning a new jargon and how to speak appropriately in an international corporation. We learned how to prepare Needs analysis, how to plan the course and what things to consider. Finally No matter it is a monolingual or multilingual class, one thing we need bear in mind is to avoid the use of the mother tongue in a classroom.
