There are four tenses for students to learn in the present tense: present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present prefect continuous. The present simple is used for general facts, routines, habits. The present continuous is for actions that are in progress at the time or around the time of speaking. The present perfect is when one relates something in the past to the present, and the perfect continuous is focused on the action which is continuing up until this present point in time.
