In this unit, we learned that writing and speaking are considered productive skills as opposed to listening and reading considered to be the receptive language skills. There are various activities that can be used for teaching speaking skills, including Controlled, Guided and Creative Communication activities. Writing, on the other hand, are different from speaking in forms of grammar, Vocabulary, Spelling, layout and Punctuation etc. The teacher has to help the students to understand and learn how to write effectively, give clear explanations and instructions and guide the students in each step of the writing process.
