Receptive skills are listening and reading which are often contrasted with productive skills(speaking and writing). When learning a new language, learners tend to develop their receptive skills first and then acquire productive capability. we learned from this unit that readers and listeners employed Predictive, Scanning, Skimming, Detailed, Deduction skills when reading or listening. We also learned how to address some potential problems when teaching and learning of receptive skills. Then the unit ended with some supporting Task materials and an ESA patchwork example demonstration.
