This unit is about how to plan lessons. The unit begins with suggestions by theorists arguing that "it's not a good idea" as it makes a lesson rigid and teacher-centered. The unit then moves on to provide the functions of a lesson plan, supplying the basic principles for creating lesson plans. Afterwhich, it presents a 'checklist' a teacher can check out before a lesson, which can assist the teacher in being organised.
In addition, this unit explains the components of a complete lesson plan and provides a standard completed lesson plan format to showcase how it can be used and how the components fit into it. It also provides an empty standard lesson plan format for future/personal use. The unit then points out how a teacher can monitor their lessons, what to focus on to help themselves develop and offers a sample self-evaluation form for the teachers use.
