In this Unit, I have learned about the Present Tense form of verbs which are Simple present, Present continuous, Present perfect and Present perfect continuous. I have learned about the important grammar points and rules to bear in mind especially when constructing affirmative, negative sentences and questions. I have learned about each tenses usage, mistakes that students commonly make and I am happy to get some ideas on what fun activities I can do in the class. When I studied English at School, I remember I had struggled with understanding the present perfect and present perfect continuous. It was a little bit complicated for me and I think most students have difficulties learning these tenses. I am delighted that this lesson has provided me with easy and organized explanations on the grammar structure and usage. It has given me so much important information that will help me explain it well to my students in the future. In Simple Present tense, I have learned the basic grammar formation for the Third person singular such as adding ''s' to the base verb form, changing 'y' to 'i' then adding 'es' to verbs ending in consonant, and so forth. It is used to talk about habitual or routine actions, permanent situations or facts, commentaries, directions and instructions, present or historical stories. It`s good to be informed that verbs of (involuntary) senses, feelings and emotions, verbs of mental activity and possession can't be used in the Present continuous. We use the simple form of verb instead. Present Continuous is used when we talk about actions that is in progress at the time of speaking, about temporary action, background events in a present story, to emphasize frequent actions or describe developing situations. Present Perfect is used when we talk about finished actions that happened at an indefinite time, something which began in the past and is still true now at the time of speaking, or when we describe past actions with present results. For or Since is commonly used here. Present perfect continuous is used when we talk about an incomplete and ongoing activity stating how long it has continued, or to describe a recently finished, uninterrupted activity which has a present result. In planning activities for the activate stage of teaching, I should always keep in mind to let the students talk as much as possible, and provide them with fun activities that encourage and engage every students to participate and communicate using the target language.
