This unit discusses how to teach four special groups of students: beginners, one-on-one, young learners, and business English learners. There are several types of beginner students. One-on-one learners are at a disadvantage due to lack of classroom activities, but benefit from individualized attention. Young learners learn quickly, but it is important to keep activities short and easy and fun. Teachers might have the most behavior issues with this group. Lastly, business English learners are adults with various levels of proficiency who are often motivated but can suffer from being tired or overloaded due to their other responsibilities. It is important to do a needs assessment before planning lessons with business English learners.
