The cons of using a coursebook is that the material will not be best suited for all students, it may be out of date/uninteresting, and it can create a boring and rigid classroom experience. The best way to use a coursebook is to use it as a general outline and/or jumping off point for customization and supplementation for your students, their abilities, and the flow of a lesson.
