Unit 14: Coursebooks and lesson materials discussed the different type of materials that can be used to enhance a class. It began by categorizing the materials into authentic (those used every day by native speakers) and created (those designed by the teacher), and providing pros and cons of each.
The other large aspect of this unit was coursebook, a hotly contested issue among teachers. It described the advantages and disadvantages of coursebooks, and how they can be adapted to best fit your classroom/students’ needs. Another very useful aspect of this unit, was that it provided ways to analyze a coursebook to best suit the class.
