Going through this particular unit was a bit of a challenge for me even as a native speaker of the English language, as many times we tend to overlook the importance of grammatical rules. However, after completing this unit, I have realized how essential these rules are to a student of the English language as grammar rules aid in the formation of a strong linguistic foundation in the new language and in some ways these rules are a type of road map they can rely on whenever they feel uncertain of their skills. For example, if a student is told to write a short sentence, he/she can draw from his knowledge of grammar to form a grammatically correct sentence. Even if some rules do not always apply to every scenario, chances are the sentence structure will be close to being more correct as suppose to completely incorrect.
