Unit 4 discussed a lot of different kinds of materials that can be used in a class. This includes lesson plans, and authentic and non-authentic materials. Lesson plans are useful as they help you to think ahead about the class and consider issues you or your students may have, as well as giving you time to consider how you'll present activities and information to the class so that they understand. The added benefit of a lesson plan is that it allows you to determine a personal aim for the class, such as improving the use of 3x3 drilling. It also talks about authentic and non-authentic materials, and their uses in the class, for example providing authentic materials can give students real-world examples and use of the language that they're learning, while non-authentic materials can provide them with more simple examples or more ways to use that language- such as fill-in-the-blank worksheets.
